Afternoon Tea in Bird Cages – My Cup of Tea Dessert

Afternoon Tea Bird Cages

When my bestie from university and I have quality time we always meet halfway between Whitby and Toronto – which is generally Markham area. We usually end up at Pacific mall, and I struggle to find new places to explore. I Googled afternoon tea places and stumbled upon an afternoon tea in bird cages at My Cup of Tea Dessert

When we arrive we have the place entirely to ourselves! The decor is modern, grey, slick and gives a calming feeling. My friend brought her toddler and they were surprisingly prepared to entertain children – having toys and activities to lend out.

They bring a wooden tray of over 20 teas to choose from; as always I choose Earl Grey. I’ve never seen glass warmers for teapots that have candles inside – an ingenious way to keep things warm! The intricate metal Turkish-style cups remind me of my visit to Istanbul.

Afternoon Tea in Bird Cages!

The meal comes displayed in beautiful birdcage trays – it is such a unique and special way to serve it. I’ve never seen a meal displayed this way and I admit this is why I visited. Although the facility isn’t nut-free I am able to eat the majority of the meal without issue – they modify some items for me. As long as I can eat scones I’m happy – they have plain and one made with Earl Grey tea. Anything made with Earl Grey has me hooked. For dessert there was a chocolate shoe (which I couldn’t eat) a flower which I think was red bean (not my thing) and a mango mouse with an icing flower – this I liked.

I wore a stretchy floral pink dress from Zara which is comfortable and you can eat in it! See how I wore it a bit fancier here.
