Since May is allergy awareness month I decided to reminisce on my favourite Toronto Nut Free cupcake shops. Fingers crossed after Covid they will still be in business. If you didn’t know I’m allergic to nuts and peanuts so when I find a place I can eat desserts at I go nuts (excuse the pun). In no particular order below are my favourite places to get a safe treat.
Sorelle & Company
If you can’t tell, afternoon tea is a passion of mine. Around a year ago I visited the Vaughan Sorelle & Company and was so happy. Usually going out to tea is a long list of allergies and assurances prior to ordering. But the nice this is I don’t even have to ask here! It’s such a relief. They are also gluten-free, vegan and dairy-free; since dairy is also an issue sometimes I appreciate this. However, I love gluten – their chocolate desserts are better as you can’t really tell they are gluten-free.
It is also beautifully decorated- very Pinterest and Instagram-worthy. They used to have a Yorkville location and I would visit it far too often on my breaks at work. Try their donuts (especially the chocolate ones) those would be my pick.
Short & Sweet BakeShop
Short and Sweet Bakeshop does more than nutfree cupcakes. They bake lots of crazy creations like this monster of a cookie bar above. They have huge cookies or sammies (cookie sandwiches) and amazing cinnamon buns. It is also quite dangerous there are two locations in the financial district (where I often work).
Last year, I got my sister’s bridal shower cake custom made there so I could eat it – I only buy cakes I can also eat! See more pictures of it in my dessert table blog post.
Cakes By Robert
When my partner gave me this unicorn birthday cake (per my demand) I was overjoyed. I’m not often in the area of Cakes by Robert but when I am I definitely get a cupcake. This is one of the most special and fun cakes I’ve received for a birthday.
These three places are some of my favourite go-to Toronto Nutfree Cupcake Shops for yummy, pretty and safe nut-free desserts. This list definitely isn’t exhaustive, there are lots of other places to get allergy friendly cupcakes in Toronto.
What is your favourite nutfree place in Toronto or beyond? Let me know in the comments!
Note: All allergy sufferers know before you eat you must always ask about ingredients. Please take my reviews as information only; never forget to ask your server about ingredients before you eat. Happy nut-free snacking!
