While walking through Michaels I came across an aisle of straw purses. The beach bags and clutches were perfectly prepped to make a DIY Straw Pom Pom Purse. Given I was going to Jamaica soon I thought a fun colourful purse was in order. Last time I went to an all inclusive none of my purses matched the scenery or my beach look. This time it’ll be different.
I went for a rainbow fun pattern of tassels and pom poms. This part is optional, but I also added a chain strap because I hate only carrying a purse; I need my hands free. If I don’t want to put the chain on my shoulder I can just put it inside- this makes the purse more versatile. I bought a big bag of assorted pom poms for this so I’m brainstorming other crafts for them.

Clutch Supplies
- Straw purse (from Michael’s)
- Various Pom Pom’s (from Michael’s)
- Tassels
- Needle and thread
- E600 glue
- Gold chain (optional)
DIY Purse Instructions
- Decide on the colours you want for the pom poms and tassels. I went for rainbow
- Separate pom poms by colour and size
- Decide on the pattern you want.
- Sew the tassels along along the edge of the purse by hand. To be exact you should measure, but I just eyeballed it.
- Glue pom poms on tassels and smaller Pom poms in between the tassels using the E6000 glue
- Let dry
- Sew chain on the side of the purse (optional)
- Rock your purse on vacation
