I have been binge watching Sabrina lately and oh the fashion! I’ve been obsessed with the lace collars that the weird sisters and all other characters wear – loving all the Wednesday Addams witchy vibes. Given I’m blonde, I needed a DIY Sabrina witch collar. The tutorial below shows you how to make two versions:
- Attaching a collar to an existing white blouse, or
- Creating a collar necklace that you can wear with any outfit
Video Tutorial
I’ve had a bunch of these collar details hanging around for at least a year. I’ve been meaning to add them to a blouse or sweater. But I haven’t DIY’d or been creative lately. From the show I was reminded I had some craft supplies ready to use. I decided I would attach the most dramatic one to an old button up blouse I have. Blouses aren’t my things usually and I haven’t worn this shirt in years. But I didn’t throw it out because I only had one white blouse. Adding a collar is a perfect way to upcycle and give your clothes a second life. It made something I never wear into an interesting piece.
The best thing is these collars were CHEAP – only a dollar for the pair. The glittery button I already had, as my craft supply closet is vast. So I really had everything I needed already for the DIY, but I may be a bit weird. You’d likely need the collar only, the pretty button is optional, but recommended. Essentially, I made this look for practically nothing.
Lace Collar Supplies

- White button up blouse
- Fancy button (optional)

Weird Sisters Collared Blouse
This DIY Sabrina witch collar is a darker look – more like the weird sisters. You can wear the shirt alone. But to get the look pair it with a crew neck cardigan or dress. I wore it with a black cardigan and exposed the collar. I was lucky the blouse already had bell sleeves which made the look even better. The skirt was from Express and fishnets I had in my closet.
Instructions – Attaching to a Blouse
- Use the seam ripper to carefully detach the collar. Remove collar and discard
- Cut excess off collar (if applicable)
- Replace top button with a fancy one. Sew by hand.
- Pin collar around close to edge being sure the middle button isn’t covered. This will ensure the collar falls right.
- Sew collar in place. I sewed by hand but a sewing machine would likely be easier.
Sabrina Witch Collar Necklace
This DIY is unbelievably easy. It will take you less than 10 minutes. The great thing about this collar necklace is you can wear it with multiple outfits without worrying about wearing a collared shirt underneath which can get hot and bulky.
Instructions – Collar Necklace
- Lay collar flat down in the shape it would be around your neck
- Overlap the front edges slightly and sew together
- Sew a ribbon on either end of the collar pieces
- Singe the end of the ribbon to prevent fraying
- To wear tie in a bow and wear like a necklace
This DIY would also be a simple Halloween costume. If you don’t know me, Halloween is my Christmas. See all Halloween DIYs on the blog.
