DIY White Feather Fascinator

White Swan Fascinator

I bought this white feather piece for around $3 at a craft store on Queen Street with the intention of it being part of a white swan Halloween costume. I’m always thinking of the next Halloween craft. If you want Halloween inspiration, look at the Halloween section of the blog.

This is a super easy and lazy way to make a DIY white feather fascinator. It is also very cheap; the feathers were $3 each. The flip clips came in packs of 10 at the dollar store. So the accessory costs less than $5 to make! If you were to have two for the white swan costume look, it would still cost less than $10.

I made two of these for a friend’s white swan outfit that never panned out. This was several years ago when Black Swan had just come out and the movie was a popular Halloween costume. If you haven’t seen it, it’s really a great movie. You’re not sure what’s real and it’s a bit disturbing. My friend was supposed to be white swan and I’d be the black swan; but illness happened on Halloween and I was a solo evil swan.  But the fascinator didn’t go to waste – I have used the DIY white feather fascinator for afternoon tea dates and for when I feel like being fancy.

Instructions

  1. Glue two flip clips to the back of the feather piece and let dry.
  2. That is it, you’re done!
White Swan Feather Fascinator - Back

I wore the fascinator to an anniversary afternoon tea date. I will use any excuse to wear a fascinator, let alone one I made myself. The matching red heels made the red skirt pop even more. The white feather in my hair was subtle, but perfect to make me seem a bit extra.
